The Basilicas of Saint Stephen
Above the beach of Kamari, in the south of Kos island, there is a rocky area, called the Basilicas of Saint Stephen. It’s a complex of early Christian churches built during the 5th and 6th century BC. Those temples were even connected to Kastri islet via a bridge, which collapsed by an earthquake a long time ago. The excavation that unearthed those Ionic columns took place between 1935 and 1943. This place offers a vast and alluring view of the coast, Kastri and the rest of Kos especially during the evening when the city is all lit up!
